Samari Utthan Sewa (SUS) is a non-government and not-for-profit organization, founded by a group of youths from the Dalit community in Chitwan. Since its inception in 2008, it has been working to ensure the rights of Dalits and other minority groups based on caste, gender, and sexuality. Due to Its prior experiences regarding sustainable community development, knowledge production, advocacy, and result-based management, it now stands as a leading civil society actor in Nepal. So far, it has contributed to the socio-economic upliftment of 4000 households of Dalit, Chepang, and Santhal tribals associated with 250 Self-help groups, 6 agriculture cooperatives, and 6 community-based organizations under various project interventions. SUS is going to implement a project entitled “Protection and assistance to vulnerable internal migrant workers from the Adult Entertainment Sector (AES) in Nepal-SHARMIK”, an initiative funded by Peoples’ Courage International (PCI) from May 1st 2024 to April 30, 2025 (as a pilot project with a possibility to extend next 4 years) in Madi Municipality and Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan. As an impact of the project’s intervention, community people will have greater access to social security and social protection schemes ensured by the private sector and governments through the establishment and strengthening of the Employment Service Centers (ESCs) at the local level.
We are looking for dynamic and committed candidates for the following positions:-
- Project Coordinator-1: Responsible for planning, designing and ensuring the quality of project activities as well as coordinating with federal, provincial and district-level stakeholders including the private sector and labour unions for smooth implementation of activities, monitoring and evaluation, and providing technical support to local government for the implement of the Right to Employment Act, 2075 at the local level. The applicant must have a master’s degree in any discipline with at least 5 years of intensive working experience in migration, social security and the adult entertainment sector, and excellent report-writing skills in English and Nepali.
- Project Officer-1: Management of campaigns of the projects facilitating training, and assisting to project coordinator in overseeing the implementation of project activities. The applicant must have at least a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with working experience in a similar position for at least 3 years. Experience in social science research or studies will be an advantage.
- Admin and Finance Officer-1: Overall financial documentation and accounting of the project transactions, financial reporting of project funds, tracking of budget in line with activities and strategic support to the district team. The applicant must have at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or management with working experience in a similar position for at least 3 years.
- Social Mobilizers (Sharmik Saathi)-3: Support and facilitate community-level activity implementation, supervise migrant workers network members, Self Help Groups of internal-migrant workers’ families, identify and document cases related to labour rights, conduct regular community engagement activities and surveys, change documentation and mobilization of advocacy activities at community level. The applicant must have at least a bachelor’s degree in social work or any discipline with working experience in a similar position for at least 2 years.
- Dalit Library Assistant- 1: This position is Sarlahi-based, where SUS is going to establish the first “Dalit public library” with a computer lab in Haripur Sarlahi in collaboration with Dalit Solidarity Network, Finland. The applicant must have a 10+2 in any discipline with advanced-level computer training, working experience with Dalit youths, and story-writing skills in English and Nepali.
